RAIN RAIN & COLD GO AWAY, BRING ON THE HEAT BEFORE THE END OF THE GROWING DAYS......IT SEEMS THINGS ARE TOTALLY GOING DOWNHILL.I wonder who else is having bad weather luck also...this is our worst season in well maybe 100+ years, or at least the last 20, but it feels like 100..good luck to all whom have the bad weather to contend with, with no hope to come...Happy growing....JK

I wonder if this is a sign of a horrible winter with snows that I remember as a kid with 20 ft. drifts covering doorsteps and snowmobiles on the roads instead of cars....we will see....lol

is 10" of rain bad? (sarcasm) i thought about you guys
last night while watching the weather channel.
that is insane. i would find an Indian shaman in the
offseason to do hail protection dances, rain dissipation
dances, cold weather go away dances, and 100 degree below
dances. then i would set him up a tee pee in the middle
of the patch and have him stick around for awhile.
voodoo might be your next option. hope next year is
more average normal conditions for you and everyone across
the country because this has been one freaky summer.
i am sure those in wisconsin will take the shaman's phone number down if he has any relatives practicing
medicine who like cheese.

Heavy frost this morning, My hunny of a wife got up at 4am to turn the sprinklers on since I was at work until 6:30am this morning. The plants look ok, I hope they make it. I've NEVER seen frost in August in my 15 years of gardening!!!!!!
My car had a thick layer of frost on the windshield when I left work, had to use the defrost....... the only saving grace is that the temperature "only" got down to 35*f

Frost here in WI last night too. Might be time to hang it up for the season. Supposed to be colder tonight, and no end in sight.

Hard to think someone somewhere should grow another record, huh? Hell, I am still working on pollinating fruits! I have 5 more plants that haven't been pollinated yet {they are 3-6 feet long....for the third time}, and I'm probably going to only hope to get clones from those plants realistically now. I think 40 Ounce is right, looks to be setting up for early fall/winter, and frost up there already supports the theory. With that perhaps being the case, I'll never get any viable seeds from the latest set fruits. Damn!

is it bad when the water comming out of the sprinkler system is turning to snow? yay, thats what I thought. was at 28*f when I turned the sprinklers on to fend off the frost that was forming at 4am......... I need a new hobby....

Same here....

Frost at the end of May, cool and rainy all June and July, some better weather for the last days of July and the beginning of August.

But the last few days have been quite cold with rain, rain, rain again.

This is also the earliest date in the season I have ever already planned for the next season - says it all.

I really wanted to get a BIG one out of the 801.5 Stelts this year as this is just such a great seed - my favorite seed of all...
But it almost stopped growing by now, great shape and color, though.
The 801.5 will definitely get another chance next year and the weather can't be any worse!

I think I'm totally done now, the plants seem to survive ok yesterday with only a few damaged leaves. Got up at 4am this morning and it took me 25 minutes to get the hose UN FROZE!!!!..... Over 1/2 the leaves in my patch ar all curled up now from the freezing temps...... and it suppose to be above normal temps for the next week starting tommarrow :(

Hail storm # 18 hit my neck of the woods today {again}. This was the 5th REALLY BAD hail storm {more than 1"on the ground}, and just really hurt my chances to have viable seeds on the plants {which still exist} that must be selfed.
I must say... you can cover for hail somewhat (2-3" today), but a hard freeze is about impossible to come out of without total devestation. Sorry to hear that guys... next year must be better for all of us. Hell, how could things get any worse than 2004's "bundle of hell" weather???

Yeah Marc highs of barely 70 with 40s for lows, I can not believe severe weather and hail as we had today can even develop in these conditions...It is way too cold, but it seems the weather keeps getting more severe, as It looked like a tornado was forming over my place today, then it went your way and crapped a bunch of big ice balls on you...lol....the clouds were pink, purple, and orange, moving aggressively, and the colors were definately bad news for growers of all plants....Like you said it looked like weather from HELL in the sky...Good luck to all whom have had to deal with all of these torture your plant extreme weather conditions this screwed up season...We will kick butt in 2005...lol..Hopefully...Happy Growing ..James Kane...
