I have noticed an increase in leaf burn over the last two weeks as the temperature has been rising in SoCal. I called my contact at GrowMore and asked what the problem was. I spraying (foliar feeding) a mixture of kelp extract, fish emulsives, compost tea and neem oil. After some discussion on the ratios he suggested I back off on my seaweed to 1 tablespoon per gallon. This was the first I've heard that foliar seaweed feeding can cause leaf burn.

The neem oil is innocent. The neem oil is an excellent insect and mildew suppressant and I've used it separately without problems at the same dosage. I know it's hard to believe, but kelp extract in higher doses can burn.
