OK not sure if i'm measureing properly or not.
Ok ground to ground is this say from the right side of the pumpkin ( ground) to left side of pumpking ground ) exam,14"
side to side half way down one side to half way down the other side exam 12"
end to end stem - flower middle = 18"
so i take 14+12+18 = 44"
am i measureing properly or how do you go side to side ground to ground and end to end for measureing?
just curious thanks Dave

C= Circumference at the widest point parralel the ground. E = end to end where the tape only touches the fruit going over. S = side to side as above.
When taking the E & S measurements the tape starts on the ground (sand, foam, matt, whatever) & travels straight up as it then contacts the fruit & goes over. It looses contact with the fruit again as it reaches straight back down to the ground on the other side,
Circumference gets tough to do alone over 100"C especially on ribby fruit.
The 3 figures are then added together to get OTT.

Say your tapeing a pumpkin thats wheel shaped, you hang the tape from left to right all the way to the ground on both sides, let the tape fall stright down to the soil. This is your side to side measurement,it will be your second largest measurement. next front to back measurement: Hang the tape all the way down to the ground on either side of the stem continueing over the top of the fruit down the back side past the blossem all the way to the ground. This will be your 2nd largest measurement. Circumfrence measurement is last wrap the tape around the pumpkin at its widest point, this will be horizontal with the ground and will be your largest measurement.Hope this helped.John
