I have heard rumors that there will be no weigh-off in St.Catherines this year. Any one else hear anything?
Also, I was looking at the rules from Pt. Elgin and they have added some regarding colour reqiurement. If I understand it correctly, it will be possible to have a World Record "Exhibit Only" fruit. If you plant a pumpkin/squash seed , how does one end up with a fruit that is neither a pumpkin nor a squash? Does any other site have these rules? Below is a c/p of rules 20,21 and 22 .
20)# Colour requirements - To be eligible for the heaviest pumpkins, and to qualify for Port Elgin Pumpkinfest prize money, the pumpkin must be 75% to 100% pumpkin colour(s). Pumpkin colours will include orange, red, yellow, tan, cream, white, and/or combinations of these colours.
21)# Colour requirements - To be eligible for the heaviest squash, and to qualify for Port Elgin Pumpkinfest prize money, the squash must be 100% squash colour(s). Squash colours will include green, gray, blue and/or combinations of these colours.
22)# Colour requirements - Any specimens that do not fill the pumpkin or squash requirements will be declared "for exhibit only" at Port Elgin Pumpkinfest. *see GPC Rule 6
GPC Rule 6)Colour requirements - To be eligible for the heaviest pumpkins, and to qualify for GPC prize money, the pumpkin must be 75% to 100% pumpkin colour or colours (Note stipulation 6a below). All others will be considered squash * for GPC entry only* *see Rule #20, 21, 22 Port Elgin Pumpkinfest International Weigh Off.
