This is a little tricky to explain, so bear with me...
At what weight does it become feasible (possible) to add 20 pounds per day, assuming everything else is OK?
That is, I wouldn't expect a healthy 20 pound pumpkin to add another 20 pounds and double it's weight in one day. Can a 100 pound pumpkin add 20 pounds? What weight is expected before 20 becomes possible?
Regards, Cliff

I would say around 200 lbs, 20 or so days old they should hit the 20 plus lbs a day. Just my experience and observations. Mike Frantz

pretty close to agreeing with Mike on that, looking over my charts at around day 20 when fruits are 150 to 200 lbs, gaining 20 or more a day hasnt been a problem here.

I have seen 20 lb gains from 90-110 lbs never split one at that age either.

Last year, mine split about 5-600 pounds...2nd week in August. They were "on track" to break 1K, too! Agressive plants can add 20-30 pounds a day to their fruit beginning the last week in July and through the 3rd week of August. They usually start slowing down toward Labor Day. Adding 100-150 pounds in September does occur...if it does not freeze!

I had a fruit go from 65.5" circ to 70" circ in a 24hr period, which equates to a 20lb gain, from 90 to 110lbs. This explosive growth did not seem to affect the pumpkin negatively!
