Today I was foil feeding my plants and noticed on my 940 plant that one of my leaves was dangling from the stem. I cut the leaf off and took a closer look and seen like a saw dust material, or brownish mush. I Then took my pocket knife and scraped the mush away and what did i find? You got it! A vine borer, black head with white body, I didnt just find 1 in the leafs big vains i found 2!!!Lucky for me these was at the top of the leaf.After seeing that it made me to start thinking of this mush looking stuff,I had the exact same thing on my big pumpkins main vine after the pumpkin. I thought this mushy stuff was because the pumpkin was pushing on the vine as it was growing making it split a little. I was wrong, there was a vine borer in there too!!, It wasnt even a 1/4 inch inside the main vine and i just pulled it right out,also lucky that this vine borer didnt want to snack on the vine before the pumpkin or i would be in real trouble.
This is just a warning to everyone beware of the SVB its still out there, I havnt seen very many posts about these SOB'S.

How do those pumpkins eat that "Foil". Hmmm I have heard of giving them milk, Birth control pills, an I.V. with sugar water but never foil...Regular aluminum or something special :)

Ya Might wanna try it though, FOIL feeding is making my pumpkin 533 POUNDS so far, Not bad for a rookie grower and bad speller.(wrap pumpkin in foil, sit in hot sun for 8 hours then spray stem heavy with weed killer, let sit and wipe dry)
