OK, my rookie season has been less than desirable. I started off by overfertilizing and not checking the temperature of the cold frame on more than one occasion. The plants almost died and had to be cut back completely. Since then I've straightened things out and they are doing better. Both primary vines are 16 andd 17'. I have a pumpkin set on both plants at 7' each. The problem is that neither plant has 1 secondary vine and the pumpkins are only growing about 1 1/2" per day(circumference). Anyone ever heard of plants in August not having secondary vines? Also any advice on what to do to boost the rate of growth? I'm currently using the agro-k program, fish and seaweed. My soil test showed no lack of nutrients and a ph of 6.0 My one pumpkin at day 23 is only 38". Thanks, Tony

If you go down close to the bottom of the page you will see I listed a very similar problem under "what do you think happened." Of course, my problem is a bit different than your but you asked if "anyone ever heard of not having secondaries." Also, I do have a couple... lol..... good luck buddy....
