Planting a big seed doesnt always mean your going to have a bigPumpkin does it?, Lets say I cross A 1000 pounder with a 900 pounder and the pumpkin only grows to like 100 pounds. Now the seeds out of the 100 pounder, does it still stand a good chance of growing a really nice big one next year? And what if the seeds arnt as big as a normal size ag seed and Mature. If i have the genitics in a small seed do I still stand a good chance it will be like its mom and dad? (I dont have one of these pumpkins its just a example)

In my opinion, small pumpkins' seed can produce huge progeny just as well as any. There's lots of examples out there and would be many more, BUT, most folks won't grow seed from a 100-500# pumpkin.

I,m sure the seeds in slychit example would grow a huge
pumpkin cause the genetics are still there even if it only produced a 100lb that year but if it continues to prduce small friut with out crossing you,ll weaken your strain.
