Hey Guys, looking for advice from someone who has done a calcium soak with a towel on a fruit before. Dick Wallace, Jerry Rose, others? I know you 2 guys mentioned have done them before. I have Vigor Cal, Calcium Chelate, and Calcium Nitrate as options. What would you use and how much. 24 hours a day?

Thanks,
Tom Beachy

Craig suggests using Vigor Cal 1/4 oz.to gallon. I keep a spray bottle in the patch and TRY to spray the fruits daily, but it doesn't always happen. Had I planted a 1097 or 501 Beachy, I would have been sure to spray daily!

Two tablespoons of calcium chelate in one and a half gallons of water and enough old beach towels to cover three pumpkins seemed to be just fine last year. Let the towel drip a little back into your bucket before putting them on the pumpkin.

Super thanks Bob! I figured it would be something like an oz per gallon or something. I should read closer on the emails I get from Craig too Jim! It says that right on the email I had. Only number I saw was the 2 oz per gallon....Yikes a little high

Tom last year I used Nortrace 10% calcium I got it from Parks,in a 2.5 gallom bucket I was using 1/4 to 1/2 cups for the 2.5 gallons. I used it last night at the 1/2 cup in the 2.5 gallon bucket it didn't seem to burn any of the pumpkins I use it every three days starting now till the end.

This is the first year using towek wraps here. Previously we only applied it as a spray.

According to the president of Nutri-Cal's parent company, the standard 2-3 oz per gallon concentration might be more CA than a wrap *needs*. But using this rate has caused no ill effects here that I am aware of. I've been repeating the soaks every other day.

how many weeks using calcium soaking method does it take to finally start taking effect and start developing thick walls on the fruit

I use Nutri-Cal at 3 oz, sometimes 4, per gallon. Usually rewet every day, leave for 3 days at a time, then remove and let air out to dry for 1 day, repeat.

I'm with Cory on that question. I have been using towels and spray's once/week but still I got a blossom end split. Is there a delayed uptake and build up of the walls.

when and how long do most leave the wraps on?
at night, all day, day and night?
also, every other day, every day?
what day do most start the wrapping process,
at 30 days, 40 days or so?
does it help for a pumpkin over 55 days?
i will give it a try, but i am afraid of creating rot
conditions. is it necessary to avoid any dripping
from the wrap to prevent moisture from running down
and around the blossum? i wouldn't want the blossum
staying moist for any considerable period of time?
any advice is greatly appreciated.
