I seem to forget....is it time to cut off all new growth on all the vines? Or does this stress the plant and would it be letter to let it grow wild? Also, my plants have been aborting pumpkins...thankfully not my biggest ones. Yesterday I cut off a bunch of small ones, planning to leave the two larger ones. I got all done and then got closer to what looked like a healthy pumpkin (the second largest) and found it all dimpled on the bottom. Sure enough an abort. I cut it off and chucked it this morning. I do have one wagon wheel type punkin, though it is small yet. It will absorb any excess growth...though to be truthful I have not noticed any of that! LOL In fact growth is less than 10 pounds per day. Certainly nothing to get excited about.

I usually try to terminate all vine growth in the first week of august, regardless of plant size. I wouldnt let it grow wild, thats wasting precious energy that could go to fruit growth!
