Just when I thought I'd preached it all......
Squash Vine Borer party in my patch today. I must have looked rediculous chasing them away.
Screw it. Out comes the bottle of Talstar. Straight into the Miracle Grow no clog feeder.
The misters are still bowing liquid death all over the hood as I type.....
Die SOB's die!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, I'd be curious what you usually use. I've been using Talstar as my only insecticide this season.

your missing the point... put his insecticed into his fert feeder container.... you're supposed to have separate containers for each.

LOL Steve, are there any neighbors left alive??? You might have killed more than just SVB's :-) I can picture you out in your patch with a white doctors smock on looking like a mad scientist feverishly working to destroy every last SVB into oblivion.

I checked the records Carlos & my pants were found down at my own ankles. I've made 2 Talstar sprays this year. June 13 & July 10. So with respect to the 28 day claimed residual, I was due.
I also didn't repeat my Merit drench at Day 90 as I always recommend. Though I did just finish delivering that over-do element of the pest control program too.
I figure we were "unprotected" for about 7-10 days. Not good.
Interesting, I have 3 such inline "feeders". By chance, the one I used happened to use is the one I normally use for Compass fungicide (aka Flint). But it would make little difference either way. Everything I use is tank mixable with fertilizer. I would normally apply insecticides (except Merit) & most fungicides from the backpack spraying the leaf bottoms.
The neighbors, domesticated pets, & wildlife all survived as I expected them to. Even the Butterflies all had the good sense to skee-daddle.
Unfortunately there were a few stray males open this morning. So it's likely I killed some bees. The large number of dead Asiatic & Oriental Garden Beetles I found was quite alarming.
I always give advice better than I take it myself. Now I'll be all week checking for eggs.

fight the good fight tremor. your advice has kept me borer free on the grub end all season though i have seen them as adult in various waves. the talstar-demand cs alternating every 7-10 days at high end levels worked without too much leaf burn at all. the only leaves affected were young tender ones. i actually used higher then the high end at 3mls per gallon of demand cs and 10 mls per gallon of the talstar-one when only hitting the vines and leaf stalks. i make a seperate spray for the leaf spray and the vine-stalk spray. i have chased them around many times as adults with my fly swatter and it is sort of fun, but sucks for the doubt they stir up. but when ever i saw one flying in the patch, that night every vine and leaf stalk got a good soaking whether i just sprayed the leaves recently or not. nothing better than to coat the eggs or the first place they eat if they hatch. thanks again for the advice all year and get them sob's.
