How long does a female blossom stay "alive"?I have only a fem.blossom open and the other (male) are close. I'm afraid to lose my pumpkin!!! Thank you very much. Nan.

Prime time for a female blossom is 3-4 hours. If it's not covered, the bees will probably do it for you.

Nan If this is the first pumpkin on the vine do not start to worry. As the vine grows there will be many more Male and Female flowers to come. And there will be enough of each to go around.

I have gotten several female blossoms after the first one showed up, but I am experiencing a lot of aborts.....3 out of 4 have aborted. Any hints? I read the article on this website about pollination so I don't know if this is normal or not.
