Anyone here in New England experiencing slower growth because of the cooler weather the past few days. Only gained a few inches over last night in OTT. Hope so because if not, I am going to have one crappy year!!! Thanks...Ray

Cooler weather past few days ??????????
Except for a warm day here & there, spring & summer up in Maine has been cooler AND wetter than normal. If we don't get some decent summer weather in the next few weeks look for Topsfield fair weights to be down for sure. Al

What is a 70° night? Never had one...we are happy if it stays 62°! It was cool last week. However, my grandson's pumpkin went from a circumference of 92" to 122"! Pollinated on July 6th.

Global warming.....El Nino....La Nina. It's all a bunch of hogwash. It's all just part of the natural cycle of this planet. Ice age or warm weather, it's all up to Mother Earth. The scientists just wanted to name it!

No, the scientists don't want to name it. They just want to take credit for it.

Here we get two seasons...winter and July. My first pumpkin set was July 12, compared to July 4th last year. I can't seem to find my growing stats from last year except the few posts in my diary here. My two largest weigh 90 to 100 pounds according to ott measurements. I just found out that the prize for the largest pumpkin at our exhibition is $300.00. I would have won last year...but did not enter due to hubby not thinking my measures were correct and that my pumpkins were not large enough to compete....boy are we disgusted!!! and now due to this dratted cold weather, I probably won't have one weighing the required 250 pounds to enter.*sigh*...anyway pray for the sun everyone, Sue in N.B.
