I've been laboring over whether to sever a secondary vine on which an early closed pollination was lumbering along. The 2 day younger main vine set (cool cross) finally started to perform early this week despite cool weather here in the Northeast. So today I boldly & carefully made my way between the secondaries to begin the surgical procedure.
Low & behold. The secondary vine was as soft as day old ice cream at the segment I was going to cut.
Naturally I freak out & started checking the main & all other secondary vines for signs of mush especially since I also discovered some fruit flies hanging around the basal crown (stump area is a good 12 feet back from the mush?).
While no ohter soft vines were discovered, you know I'll be in there later on my hands & knees looking more closely.
Comments & suggestions are certainly welcome. We're already dangerously close to a Subdue or Prodigy drench just in case. But let's hear from some other the veterans first Please.
TIA
Steve
