i still have so many flowers on the vines and many closing up....should I cut them when they are starting to close up..?...i see know use for them now...Im talking males as my fruit is all in one basket...one pumpkin pollinated on one plant......chancy YES..but im a gamblin man.........

If you want to save energy by cutting off male flowers, you should do it before the flowers are mature. If you wait till they bloom and are closing, the plant has already put all the energy that it's going to into that flower.

OK, I can see by this discussion that removing males is a good thing, but when exactly is the best time to remove them? Should I let them grow a couple of inches off the vine before they're uncerimoniously hacked from the plant, or get them as soon as they form?

well.i did it i cut all the flowers, and i got balsy or stupid to get rid of some secondaries as well as i aborted the main..garden looks so much cleaner and the pumpkin was smiling....thats my thoughts and im sticking toooo it...
