I measured my pumpkin yesterday and it slowed down growing in the last 3 days from growing about 20 pounds a day to 14 pounds a day, This is probably because of the cold nights we been having the last couple days in the high 40,s right? You think this pumpkin might quit growing thinking its fall now? Or you think i still have a chance once it warms up again at night for it to get back on track. Or maybe now its like everone says, they start at fast and end slow and steady.

It has been fall here in colo. since june this season, I am gaining on slow ,steady, slow ,steady, slow.....Then hopefully steady - explosive sept growth with out splitting..Only time will tell..Good luck to all with the same problem weather conditions..And get that big one.....

I had cold nights as well and fruit growth slowed down as well. It never reached higher levels again after the weather improved. I think it's almost done for this year...
Check out my diary with many comments and observations on fruit growth and weather...

How is this for growing slow? My only remaining pumpkin weighs 21 lbs. I know I am just a rookie and I have made a lot of dumb mistakes but weather here has been horrible. No days over 90* and only 4 over 85* One night over 70* and we just had 3 nights under 50* rain at least 2 or 3 times a week.
