Yeah right. So i heard this morning our friendly weathermen are prediciting a COLD FRONT to come thru next week. How can a cold front come thru when its already FREEZING out here? I heard one individual toss around the phrase "RECORD LOWS" Are they referring to my depression?

The forecast is a calling for a high of 63 and a low of 45 in MPLS-St Paul on Tue., and due to the urban heat island effect, im always 10-15 degrees cooler out here in the country. So the possibility of FROST exists during what is supposed to be the HOTTEST stretch of summer.

If i have to turn on the furnace in AUGUST, i WILL spaz out and hurt something.

It's been pretty cold here in Iowa also. Sunny and high of only 77 but lows upper 40' lower 50's. Where did summer go?

Mike you shouldn't be complaining! Just the other day you were saying "my pumpkins are growing too fast, how do I slow them down?". :-) We envy you. We are setting record lows. My pansies usually fart out and look crappy by July because it gets too hot for them. This year they still look good in August. Bah humbug. But look at the bright side, at least we have something to blame when our pumpkins are tiny at the weighoff. LOL

My question is when is it going to snow...I have given up on the fact that we may get a nice summer with heat and rain.

If this weather keeps up we will need snow shoes for the patch tour.

I was out in the garden at 6 a.m. this morning pulling a few weeds and burying a some vines. I had to go back in the house to warm up before I could finish in the garden.

Question: How does a Wisconsin giant pumpkin grower get 30 lbs. increases.

Answer: wait 4 days between measurements. lol

I hear you Joe..My area broke a 100 year record for least amount of sunshine during the month of July. I didn't know the kept track of such things. Last night, we had a low of 44F. The way things are going, we'll be getting our first frost later this month. Anyone have an extra greenhouse I can borrow? Joe P.

We, in the Pacific Northwest, just received our first "real rain" in six weeks. About 1/2" came down today
causing real concern that a growth spurt might just contribute to the "s-word". Temperatures are well below August normals so far..... June and July 'highs' were slightly below last year as well.

rain, who needs rain...again, when rain comes, so does a cold front and too much cold air. I cant believe this summer. ITs great for living in...bad for pumpkins. IT really gets me all mad!!

I Have NEVER seen my pumpkins grow so slow, no matter what i do. Time, money, and college student prevent me from putting up 5 greenhouses over my plants. Heck, it probably wouldnt make any difference but increase the "set in" time for mildew.

Global warming my...........(filled with many unkind words).....

but technically, if Global warming is real, it would cool us down in the long run than warm us up....

Shannon and Joe....it hasnt snowed too much in WI the last 5-6 years...all our warm weather occurs in Oct, Nov., Dec. and part of Jan...then the cold stuff lets loose and its too cold to snow and that flows right into spring and summer (it can snow at any temperature below 32, but it sounds like a good phrase to use).

Last year, I grew a 694 pound pumpkin and took 10th place at Nekoosa. I wouldn't be suprised if that same weight would place in the top 5 this year. Last year there were around 20,000 (right Case?) people at the Nekoosa pumpkin fest. This year when the people come to look at our pumpkins, they are gonna ask where we're hiding all the big ones.

We here in colorado have had the coldest and wettest and cloudiest june and july that I can ever remember here as I am a colo native. Things are just way out of wack this year, especially with our storms bringing hail almost every other day ( got more today, # 12 or 13 hail this season I think ), and yes the furnaces here have had to work in both june and july....It stinks, I am almost ready to devote my time to building another noa's ark instead of growing pumpkins, and put my seeds aboard and wait for the warm dry spell to come. And Case, that map that shows colo. above avg. on that link you posted, well the guy that dreamed that one up must have been drunk or something, as we are far from above average this season on our temps...lol..JK..Good luck
