846 Calai has developed a very large blossom end split at 139 Circ with an OTT estimated at 561 lbs.Pretty bummed out, however I have seen personal tradegy strike people in this community and this just doesnt compare.Time for a little winter rye and early cleanup. Best to all. Dave

dave, more bad news. after reading your post, i went outside to check my blossum ends and low and behold, there were identical splits on each side of the blossum on my 695 handy pumpkin. i haven't closely examined it for 5 days as it was receding further inside the kin as it grew. i look every day for sap leaks on both stem and blossums, but i had to get right up there close to see the damage today. so i grabbed a thin weed and stripped it down and checked if the spits went into the cavity. they do and ozzie is toast. there is no chance for it to heal completely, but i made a captan paste and plugged the splits to see if it continues to put on growth for my own personal best estimated weight. today it was estimated at 680 lbs. boo hoo, and i am going to the bar to follow the advice i gave you. you are not alone in your pain brother. what can you do, its all part of the game. shazzy

Sniff....Myrtle the Turtle was going to be the highlight of the 2004 Tour de Spy.
We all feel your pain Dave. But the Tour must go on. And you're still first stop. Harvest those immature seeds & roast them. We'll expect pie with our salted Pumpkin Seeds of course. LOL
Seriously though, I am sorry about the loss.
Now do we need to pick up a used Ultra-Sound machine?

Hope you have some other plants going Dave, even if they are not for competition status, as that way you will not be pumpkin-less by seasons end...Good luck
