What should you place under your pumpkins to prevent them from beingin in contact with the ground? Do you really need to protect them from touching the ground?
thank you

Yes, it's a good idea. If there is no protection, you can have insects doing damage underneath, and rot can begin to set in. Many people use sand, or a piece of styrophome.
Good Luck!

dilly the benifit s to having something under the fruit are well doccumented however, many world class pumpkins have been grown with just sand around the sides ( to prevent water from splashing onto the fruit when it rains ) sometimes you get busy and before you know it the fruit is to big to get a piece of wood or foam under if that happens go to the sand dick nepga
