We had a wicked storm go through here 3 nights ago with pea size hail. My pumpkin (then 60 lbs, now 110) suffered some damage after the wind blew the hail under my shelter (see my diary for pics). The marks are not too deep or big, but I am wondering if there is anything I can put on the fruit to ensure that it does not rot. I have some 5% liquid calcium. Would this help and what rate would I put it on? I lost a few of my younger pumpkins out at the farm from the same storm and don't want to lose my best one.
Thanks, Alan
ps the same storm blew an empty 300 gallon plastic water tank over 60 feet across the garden, it took out the onions and potatos, but missed my pumpkins.

The pumpkin looks to have weathered the storm pretty well, considering. I've heard people use a little captan to apply to wounds to ensure they heal OK, but it doesn't look like your pumpkin needs it? They'll scar over and you should be fine.
