I just checkd my pumpkins and wiped off some ooze from the pumpkin and noticed that the stem is leaking stuff also..and it has a soft spot..should I dosomething??

In the past I've scraped out the soft areas, treated with captan or any fungicide and directed a fan at the suspect area to try and dry it out thoroughly...good luck! Stems will crack, ooze, and heal themselves most of the time.

A good little fan blowing on the rot spot after it is treated with fungicide to dry out the situation is always a good cure so it will not get any deeper into the plant tissue and heal itself, hopefully......

Thanks for the info...after I can some maters, Im going to the farm store for fungicide and I do have a battery operated fan and will try that also...too far from an electric source. what can you all tel me about Merit...does this have any residual effect for planting another crop, edible, in the place where Igrew my pumpkins???
