Emergency was picking up pumpkin to put something under, in picking up stem got chinked and now is very soft and can see splits in it, can I do anything to help it? Will it be OK, or is it not fixable?
Thanks Doug

We are growing soft stemmed pumpkins here. But "how soft" is soft & how long after the handling? If it appeared immediately soft, perhaps you had never noticed how soft AG stems are before now. If several days went by then it appeared softer, maybe the rough handling allowed for a fungal infestion that is rotting the stem.
Need more details.

Doug - I'd try fungicide paste and a fan 24/7 if it is leaking a lot.
Good Luck.
