I've seen an older website of this going on. There is one that used air cannons and launched them over 4000 feet. Try this site

I have seen one of those contests before, but where half of the people have used air pressure CANNONS to shoot their pumpkins the farthest. Some of the people did it the old fashioned way with the catapult but the pumpkin didn't make it far. The cannons shot the pumpkins very very far.

South Hill, Virginia

They did a competition similar to this on Junkyard Wars except they used a cabbage. I would like to see them try to launch an 800 pound AG any significant distance.
