I have only one plant this year and it has a (big) 25 foot main vine in a crismas tree pattern it also has a second main vine heading in the other derection but this one is much smaller and i was only able to get a fruit set on this smaller vine so I'm wondering if the big main vine will still send energy to the fruit. It would be a shame to let the best part of my plant to go to wast. I was thinking about cuting the tip on my big vine and all its vines to send more energy tward the smaller vine. have any of you delt with this befor or had luck with a fruit on on a small main vine.thankyou!

hey can, last year i had this same type of plant. i had a pnkin 6' back on the second main vine, as u say. i pinched the main vine at 15' to send 'energy' to my first, best fruit set and all the secondary tips cause of limited space and thoughts that doing so would help my pnkin. i had 2 fruit set on secondary's that were downhill and away from stump 12' out. because they were much smaller but growing i felt they were taking from original pnkin. i had two experienced growers come visit and suggest i cull the estimated 200lber and go with the 25lbers that appeared to be in a better position. it was my 3rd year, and felt i needed to go with intuition. i culled the smaller ones, went on vacation, came back to a small, all the way through hole in the blossom end my 'babysitter' failed to plug. the then 300lber was history, i had nothing left and the vineborers got the rest. live and learn, but i do feel if i had not gone away and was able to tend the wound that i would have seen a positive end result but then again maybe not cause if anything can go wrong it will, but then again maybe not. clear as mud?
