i have seen some big pumpkins grown right out in someones back yard and not a single blade of grass looks to be distrubed...but then i always here about how you have to till and weed and not to let anything take away from your plant..my question is..what is the biggest pumpkin you know of that was grown on a well manicured lawn??

620# four years ago, 435# last year....front yard, all grass except for 3'x 4' deep pits.

why would anyone want to grow an ag on grass? afraid of a few weeds?

Dick.....I have a very large yard, and I grow a few color plants in it each year. The space is there, and I never expect 'em to be used for competition anyway..just good porch sitters.

SOUTHERN IF YOU CAN GROW SOMETHING THAT BIG ON GRASS YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF ( AND THE REST OF YOUR PORCH FRIENDS ) TO GIVE IT A REAL SHOT WHO KNOWS YOU MAY HAVE A WORLD RECORD FRUIT SITTING THERE SAYING " WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING HERE ? " GOOD LUCK DICK
