Baseball sized and smaller, we've sliced and pan fried in a little olive oil.
Sadly, I am now considering culling our best performing fruit (we've named it "Happy"). It is about the size of a bowling ball.
Anyone have young pumpkin recipes?

I have heard of eating pumpkin blossums....frying them in a pan. I haven't heard of eating young fruit, but I'm sure it can be done. There's a Recipes From the Garden message board on this site...you could check that out. I hear the killer crunch is pretty good. :-) http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewBoard.asp?b=16
my young culls just get pitched into the compost. if they are a bit bigger, my dad likes to chop them up with a knife. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=12615

Depends on how many systemic pesticides and fungicides have been applied to the plant or plants. I personally would not eat the fruit from my Giant Pumpkins... Now if I grew them organic like I do with my summer squash. I would slice them thin and saute them with fresh herbs, olive oil, garlic and a TBSP of Sugar, with salt and pepper to taste. Along side them would be a bed of baby red potatoes. HMMMMMMMM never have any leftovers for my lunch so they must be good.

Now that I think of it even more I should have said Sick Cradle-Robbing Murderous Cannibals since the pumpkins are also young babies!
Forgive me please for trying to have some fun! I'm also guilty of being a SC-RMC a few times but I prefer meat and fish. Michel

Being serious now.....
Leeks have a flavor that blend very nicely with pumpkins, especially when I make pumpkin soup. I prefer a garlic taste than a pumpkin pie sweet taste but that's just me. AG's even when ripe don't have much taste to them so I suppose you can mix them with anything that has a flavor your heart fancies. Michel

Set them up in a row and use them for archery practice. My son thinks thats lots of fun. Personaly I hate veggies to eat.

I just put them back into the patch to become part of the earth again.

a co-worker of mine has a few neighbors who grow jack-o-lantern pumpkins. I give him the culls and he sneaks into thier patches puts them next to the vines so it looks like their plants are growing them.
