I know this is a little off subject but since I post and read mostly in General Discussion and the subject initially started here I will continue. Please forgive if I am out of line. To condense the story... We have been making rootbeer for 5 years now. Last week I was standing in the kitchen preparing a seafood dinner on our anniversary when the 3 remaining bottles of homemade rootbeer exploded not even 2 ft from where I was standing. They exploded in all directions. Shards hit me in the face, neck, chest, and left arm. The worse was on the left arm. It bled for an eternity (several minutes ha ha) not wanting to stop bleeding. At first I thought I was shot but looking at the broken bottles I did realize what happened. Too much yeast and it was too hot in the house. It was not funny then, but it is now. I am ok, just shaken for a few minutes until I regained my composure. Where? In the pumpkin patch of course :o) Then I had to go back into the house and clean the mess. BTW, I saved the petite lobster tails, shrimp and clams. They were not involved in the accident.

RB,
I have been making beer (not often root type) for many years and can sympathize in the worst kind of way. I have never had a bottle blow but heard of it happening often. Refrigeration is a good thing LOL. Kegs are even better.
As for getting your head together in the pumpkin patch - that is great. Wouldn't work here since the pumpkins are my greatest (yes - even more than her) source of anxiety right now. Aborts are ruining my season. Oh well - glad you're basically ok.

LOL thanks all for the humorous words of concern. All is well. Michel the seafood was delicious. Hoppette I never thought about making rootbeer in a small keg. Something to think about. Next time it is in the fridge. Sorry about the pumpkin patch. Maybe you will still do good. Well I have one pumpkin and by what I am reading it is not growing anywhere as fast as anybody's. But that is ok. It is our first year. Blkcloud, a wise guy huh? Soitenly, nyuk nyuk nyuk. That is one my brother didn't think of yet so don't tell him lol.
