I was just looking at The Borers diary and the fruit on his 675 has the same super long stems mine do. Of course I would prefer a longer stem (insert sophmore humor here) but the problem I have is getting the fruit down on the ground without the stem cracking. I know the 675 is widely grown this season so maybe someone can share some wisdom.

Brent, Yeah, mine are extremely long stems as well. They are still standing up 7 days after pollination. The vines are also thicker than anything I have seen. I believe in time they will bend toward the ground just as the AGP does.

Brent, i'd hafta say i haven't had any problems with them cracking, and yes all have nice long stems, but i'd suppose you could put something underneath them to help them touch down more easier, i sometimes use branches with a "Y" shape to help ease vines down to earth so as they do not snap.

Build sand up under the fruit. Gravity will bring it down anyway. The sand will control the descent.
