Get ready those of you in the Midwest, well, probably will mostly be WI. Friday's high of 69 (YUCK) and a low of 45 (EVEN WORSE) after 87 as high and 70 degree nights...doesnt look good. I have seen forcasted lows of 43 on friday as well. That means it will be 39 in Jim falls and Deer Park (always cooler over there). Could really shut down the fruit around here in WI (central and northern part of state). We seem to get the coldest part with every cold snap this year. How does one keep the pumpkins going when there will be three straight days under 75 as the high and lows in the 40's? besides building a greenhouse. I do have some good stuff going and I dont need them to lag for the rest of the year because of one cold snap after a long peroid of good weather. So FUSTRATING i tell ya. Maybe they will be ok, but i am not planning on that.

SHUT DOWN??! My fruit haven't even started up yet! Jeez. We get one week of hot weather so the females finally bloom for some late sets, and now it's getting cold again so they're not even gonna grow. Jeesh.

I hear ya, If we get the temps that they are forecasting it will really slam the brakes on everything.

Lets bring global warming back!

On the bright side, a July 28th pollenation for me should be right at 15 feet. I'm hoping for some hot August weather in order for my late sets to grow.

It hit 93 or 94 here today.
I pollinated my first female flower this morning.
In the early afternoon I put ice near the newly pollinated.
I thought better late than never. I just hope this pollination takes in spite of the heat. It's supposed to be around 90 tommorrow, then Thursday's high is only predicted to 75.

You guys in the upper north central states are lucky , try growing in 5 time hail stricken ( as deep as snow ), wettest months on record summer this season, and a major cold snap predicted from friday till tuesday here with highs in the 60s with small fruit set......I think we had two days that maybe hit 90 this whole season !!! And when it does get warm you can not go outside unless you want the mosquitoes to eat you alive and infect you , ( colorado was rated higest for WEST NILE last summer )... But yet our city is so corrupt we can only water 2 days a week due to water restrictions....$$$$$$$$$.....time for me to move, and I am a 30+ year native of here and it stinks....Calif, nev , ariz and the rest down south & west must be thirsty....$$$$$ as colorado is flooding in water and cold temps. But we have no water except from our toilets for the downstream users as we can not use the water outside without $$$$$ dearly for it and facing fines........from the water police... Or should I say non - pumpkin growing police........

The cool weather wont be as bad as they first said...still might get cool a few nights (48-50)...pumpkins should hang in there.
