I didn't think of this until just now, what should I put between our pumpkin and the ground while it is growing? What does everyone use? Much appreciated.

flat sheets of styrofoam. i cut them into 1 or 2 foot squares and add more as the pumpkin grows.

I use sand, the kind that goes in a kids sandbox, I get it at toys-r-us, a 50 pound bag is under 3 bucks. Its really light and fluffy with no rocks in it.

If you use the foam and have lots of rodents like I do. Place aluminum window screen between the ground and the foam. Better yet try to get your hands on some paper mill screen.
