Lets just say for instance you have about a 43 pound pumpkin, and lets say your building a little roof over top of it to keep the sun off of it, Then you take wooden stakes to push in the ground so u can have something to attach the roof to. Then lets say while your pushing the wooden stake in a very hard ground that the stake breaks off in the ground and the other part thats in your hand goes into the pumpkin about 5 inches. Sooooooooooo, If something like this would happen to happen to a certain person,,,,*COUGH* How can you tell if they seeds are good for planting? *COUGH*

Dang!,, Subaru, they look mature, they are rock hard and everything, I opened the shell up and it looked normal to me inside, will the seed be brown when its mature? Is there any way to tell if its mature besides counting the days of the seed? Any way to tell by just lookin at em? Them seeds are only like 25 days old though, Oh well, thanks

I use a hammer to pound my wooden stakes into the ground. Perhaps if a certain someone happened to be having trouble getting them in the ground, they could try that next time. :-)

Some people say 50 or 55 days for seeds...I'm guessing 25 ain't gonna cut it though.

An old timegrower told me you lightly drop a seed on a wooden table and listen to the sound it makes. I f it sounds hollow, it won't grow. If it sounds solid, try it.

Brooks,,the seed will look mature,,but if you break a few open, they will be hollow inside..I had some just like the ones you have explained,,and they are hollow...
Ben,,to be sure,,yes 60 days,,but seed from my 400 last year cam from a 43 day old fruit,,and they all seem mature enough..They sprout for me...I was told 60 days also...So if you had a fruit around 43 days,,I'd definetly try them..

yea pap, and i know its not going to be my last boo boo ether, lol, By the way, do the seeds have to be completly dry to germinate? Will they grow a couple days after you take them out of a pumpkin and plant em? Just curious.

I've had AG seeds germinate right in the pumpkin if it's stored for any length of time in a warm area.
