Pollinated my first pumpkin yesterday and have a question . The pumpkin is set on the main vine and is sticking straight up in the air. Should it be or should I train it to lay on its side on the ground by adjusting the vine? I have trained the vine to grow away from the fruit and it is on the right side of a outside curve. I know about setting it perpendiclar to the vine but what I am concerned with it is it sticking almost straight up. Thanks again in advance.

Sherry, You done good! Don't do anything with your newly pollinated female. This upright postion is normal in the beginning. It will lay down on it's own as it swells. You will see this happen in a week or less. You got good postion on the vine. You did it just like the just like the book says. Good deal! watch it...don't mess with it. YOU will see the magic happen!
