My father in law was telling me yesterday about Japaneese using forms to produce square pumpkins..Anyone evr thought of this or tried it with any sucess??? Jeff ^_^

I don't know about pumpkins , but I've seen stories where the Japanese to this to watermelon. Due to size restrictions in their homes & fridges it helps them store them easier. Only problem is the melons cost about $50 american. For that price I would stick with apples.....Paul

i have one of those real smart nerd type cousin in laws who grew square tomatoes in college for packaging purposes, we have grown tomatoes our selves in old glass alka seltzer bottles, then pulled them off the vine and let people try to figure out how we got them in there to start with..

i've seen pictures of the square watermellons. they pack easier. but cost more. i don't know why it wouldn't work for pumpkins. might be a little difficult to come up with the frame to do it... and have it be the right size. it has been on my "going to try that someday" list. gordon
