My pumpkins have both started off very well matching some of the 1000lbs that have been grown. I realize its very early but I have hopes for a big one 300lbs+. On my Boyton 950.4 at 10 days it was around 37 inches. On the 620 Boyton I have a fruit that is 49 at 14 days.I understand that many things can happen from now until the end but is it common for good numbers early and slow numbers later? I usually started off slow and ended slow 200+. I think that 37 inches @ day 10 is pretty darn good. Thanks, jeff

Jeff, i think the key to growing a huge one is steady gains over an extended period of time. Ive had fruit put up early number that were incredibe, only for the fruit to pretty much peter out. Ive heard other say that there numbers werent so great, but the fruit just kept growing and growing and didnt stop. It sounds like you've got a couple of fruit on with some good potential. Just focus on the basics, keep everything in order, keep the plant healthy, and pruned. If you keep everything in order, you'll be at 300+ pounds in a few weeks.
good luck Scott

I remembered this post from last year. Should give you a little comparison data. Good Luck. http://www.bigpumpkins.com/MsgBoard/ViewThread.asp?b=3&p=43969

Hey Jeff, Sounds like you will get something large out of that 950.4 seed!!! Just looking back at the growth rate of the 950.4 and it was at 31" on day 12, so your off to a flying start! Your plants are looking great, good to see some of my seeds getting planted! Keep up the good work! Sounds like the 620 may grow something way over your 300 pound goal. The actual 620 fruit was 46" on day 16, so it too could well grow past 600, and maybe the 950.4 could top 800! Getting a bit excited at those thoughts here in frosty Aussie land. Its early days and shall continue to follow your progress. The 950.4 has grown one fruit to 1032 pounds and many over 600, also the 620 has grown a few over 600, so look out... lol. Go easy on the fertilizer, especially with fast growth rates. Good luck!!! Ben
