Subject: pollinating: time vs. temperature?

When I last pollinated I waited till 10 o´clock in the morning so the temperature was above 60 F. Earlier in the morning it´s still pretty cold and humid over here. What do you think is the best time frame after the female opened - before it will expire -)

Floh - This is a great question. Last week I missed 2 morning pollinations at the remote patch. - Didn't have any pollen ready at that given moment. I had cut the males the previous night and stuck tham in the fridge. This was a mistake as they didn't have ample time to warm up and the pollen fluff out
I went by in the afternoon, untied both females and hit them with pollen. (& tied them back up)
Still to determine wether they took or not. They are just on their way down to the ground now.
I still believe these ladies are time and temperature sensitive. As to the optimum conditions? That is still to be determined.
An additional question is Do the bees know? They start early when the sun is up and continue work and gather the nectar throughout the day.
