On one of my plants the leaves starting near the stump are losing their green color. (This plant was never a deep green color from the beginning.) They eventually turn yellow and then begin turning brown at on the edges. I've removed a few of them in the past week but it seems to be affecting more leaves. Could this be a lack of N or some fungal problem? I see no outward signs of disease or stress and the vine and fruit are still growing well to this point. I only notice this on one of the three plants. I will post a picture in the growers diary tomorrow.
Also I can't believe we didn't have a good measurable rain in about 3 weeks and today we got 4 1/4" in less than 8 hours! Everything seems to have made it through OK.

Judging by the description & the common & local early occurence this year of Powdery Mildew, I would say take a look at these & let us know if they look familiar.

I had something similar happen last year ALan, where it starts at the stump, leaves didnt get mildewy white, just turned yellow, then brown, and die. It goes in a streak pattern, hitting leaf after leaf, so I am lead to believe it is a virus type thing. I get hit every year by Powdery mildew, so I know what that is, and your description is not powdery mildew. You have options of cranking up the kelp/fish applications to help contribute to trace elements and minerals, apply daconil to try and stop any type of fungal problem it may be (powdery mildew included in this application), or just keep cutting (not reccomended). Tissue sample tests can be conducted, but they can be pricey.

I have the same thing happening on my plant - started occurring near the stump on all of the oldest (and largest) leaves. I have a pic in my diary. I did a soil test recently and discovered painfully low amounts of nitrogen, so I'm thinking that's what it is. Maybe I'm hoping that what it is?

I took a photo of the plant today. The color isn't as noticable in the photo but you can see the leaves near the center are much lighter and slightly yellow tinted. We received 4.25 inches of rain yesterday and I think it may have helped a bit with the situation for whatever reason. I will be spraying fish/kelp/molasses in the morning.
The photo will be posted in the diary shortly.

Looks like the leaves getting old to me... I wouldn't remove them till they have turned brown.

I haven't checked the plants since I've gotten home today. I will post a closup photo if the if there are any leaves that show it.
