While harvesting male flowers to pollinate I came accross a strange looking 1/2 male, 1/2 female flower and am wondering if anyone else has seen this before and what it may indicate. Just a mutant?
Have a look at http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=23059 and let me know what you think.

Looks like it belongs on the Jerry Springer of pumpkins. "Good pumpkins gone wrong! Transvestites reveal their secret"

I had one like that in 2000. I didn't do anything with it. I assumed it was a mutant. gordon

Take the pic off your diary, make no mention of it ever again, and pretend it didn't happen... it's an abomination.

And here I though my all male gay flower parade was a problem last year. Roundup does a good job on these things.

Tremor, I'm not sure that it is gay but perhaps a hermaphrodite. (www.dictionary.com)
I think Brigitte was the closest but it is not a tranny!
Lawman, live in the west end?
Anyone else?

I think a hermahprodite pumpkin plant would be cool for those plants one would want to self. Wouldn't it be cool to not have to get up at the crack of dawn to pollinate?
I know certain varieties of papaya are hermaphrodite so you can grow a single tree in the middle of nowhere and you'll still end up with a nice batch of papaya's. I bet this is a trait we could breed in to certain seed lines. Perhaps the true green squash line would be the perfect place for it? Keep those genes green.

Yup, I had one of them earlier this year on my 746 La Rue plant. When it opened, it had the most deformed lobes I have ever seen, all curled over, deformed beyond recognition.

I do not live in the west end, but if I did, and had room to grow a pumpkin there, that's what the flowers would look like. Burn that thing...

Give it a try. It probably won't work, but you never know!
