I just got back from thebeach and brought back about 75 lbs. of seaweed. I am starting a new compost pile with it. What else should I add?

Try to always balance greens & browns by volume in layers.

Once you have washed the salt away (a power washer works great) you can just cut it up or use a shreader (if you have one) and dig it right into the garden in the fall.
When I was a young lad, my father and I went down to our local beach and would bring back bull kelp by the truckload. We would wash it off, let it dry a bit and then just hack it up and throw it into the garden along with all the leaves from fall.
Seemed to work great and Dad grew a 200+ lb pumpkin in the 1970's. We always had a great garden and that is what worked for us.
