Today one of my plants was damaged by a heavy thunderstorm. Two of the BIGGER Leaves (30" across)located on the main stem near the stump were broken off about 1/2 way down the leaf stem leaving 1" hollow holes to the main stem. Is this serious? Any suggestions about what I should do? do I plug the hole? The plant's main stem is about 10 feet long with eight nice secondaries about 4 feet long.

Whiskey...you'll be fine, 2 leaves won't make or break your season. Cut the stems off at the lowest point possible and dust, or paint, the stems with a fungicide such as sulphur.
In the past, I have plugged those type holes with dirt, couldn't hurt I wouldn't think, never did my plants.

eventually these older leaves would have come down anyways.
either do to storms or old growth, i remove the fallen leaf
as close to the vine or stump as possible. if there is a
slight tilt where the leaf met, you can cut the bottom side
that is closer to the ground shorter than the upper side
for water drainage out of the hole. usually after you remove the leaf you will see ponding water in the hole.
cut a spot for the water to drain out where ever it
is best to stop water from collecting without cutting into
the vine or stump. i hope this makes sense. then i usually
take a paper towel, dab out remaining liquid and apply a
liberal abmout of captan to avoid any chance of rot
reaching the stump or vine in that critical area.

The picture of the paint stick that came with your seeds.my best guess not sure about the no.54/ 322 est is a pumpkin that didnt get weighed that had its measurments taken in the field(never made it to a certified scale) REY is probley the last name of the grower that grew the 322(you would find that at the AGGC Site.1337H would be the seed in which REY got his or her 322 estimate.Charlie houghtons 1337.6 is the seed REY planted and crossed it with a 1074 TONY CILEBERTO.hope this helped.John

John...I believe it's the 1337 x 1074 Calai. It's an Alan Reynolds seed, I have it in my collection...he sent me his 2003 crosses a few months back.

May be a Ciliberto, did he grow a 1074?
I'll have to dig the seed pack out.
