I have some bags of potash- 00-00-60 white pellits, and am wondering if I can still apply it to my plants. They are loaded with roots to the point that every leaf joint has hair like roots showing through the ground where I covered the vines. I have two pumpkins almost the size of bowling balls and would like to give them a boost if I can. Would this make the pumpkins explode and grow too fast? I thought about sprinkling it lighty around the base of the leaf stems and let the rain soak it in. What would be the best way to do this?

These are the best of times & the worst of times. LOL

Growers who have very short seasons have achieved amazing & rapid weight gains with Muriate of potash. But they blow more fruits too. Keep in mind the salt index is 38% which is higher than Urea. I sell this stuff in the winter time as a cheap deicing compound that is easier on concrete than Rock Salt. But it works better under the right conditions!

Soil biology gets upset with salty additions such as these if that concerns you. Water needs also increase due to the salt index.

This wouldn't be my first choice for supplemental potash. But world records have been set using it.

If you know your soil levels of potash with percentages. If you understand salt indices & your soil's CEC. If you've also tissue tested & have a grasp of interpretting the results or the guidance of someone who does. If you have the skill, patience, time & discipline to properly apply the granules evenly & only to the soil. And if all goes well & genetic issues such as weak vines or dill rings don't plauge you, then.....WOW! WQeight gains of 40 lbs per day are possible.

Tread lightly. You're on your own making a decision whether to take a risky journey loaded with the potential of very great rewards or possibly the most miserable failure. Only you can decide.

Good luck.
