Does the amount of water the plant has recently received affect its pliability?

As far as I could read here pliability of a vine is best when it´s sunny and hot about noon. I don´t think it has to with watering.

I believe genetics enters into the factor also. For instance-845 Bobier vines are usually not pliable but brittle!

Brittle vines seem to be an increasingly common problem. Maybe we should not sell or give away seeds from brittle vine crosses (either male or female). I refused to even keep any seeds from my 700+ pounder last year due to the brittleness of the vine. Any ideas how to spread this concept?

The celery is what I was thinking about. i was thinking of buying some at the store and playing around with pliability of stalks soaked in water versus stalks left to dry out a little. I just didn't know if anyone was aware of a correlation. Thanks!
