This spring I bought 8 845's and I planted 2 of them. Because this grew the world record would they be worth anything? I'm not going to trade yet, but I might later. I'm basically just wondering if this will be as poular as the 935 or 846. Any help would be appreciated. Please no emails.

Hold on tight to them , this winter they will work quite well in trades. I don't know about comparing it with the 935, but I would put it on the same level as the 846 because it weighed so heavy to the charts. And its cross could cause the next generation to throw more orange.
Congrats on your discovery & be prepared to be overwhelmed with e-mails in the future...............Paul

Think Big

Commack, NY

just a note to all interested parties of the 845 Bobier .....Bill Bobier has grown TWO 845 pound pumpkins.........one in 1999 and one in 2000. the one grown in 2000 is the one that produced the current world record. remember its the 935x865, NOT the 935x827. so if your making that "big trade" this winter just be sure that its the "right" 845.

Scott,
I'm, not interested in going after one but that is interesting. I'm sure there will be some BIG mixups on the trading block this winter.
Thanks for giving everyone the headsup............Paul

You scared me farmer Scott, but I checked and my are the good ones. Just a little note, this spring I bought them from P and P and they still have them. However, instead of $5 they are $20. Also I must warn any growers that this seed is EXTREMLY hard to grow. I grew it this year, but it aborted all baby fruit.

So how did the two 845's that you planted turn out?

the first one was culled and the second one became my most vigorous plant (growing 6-12 inches a day), however it refused to set friut and slowed to just barely staying alive. I know it probley seems like I killed it, but my 810 handy continued to prosper under the same methods. However the pumpkin on the 810 only reached 100 lbs before it devolped a stem split and rotted. Luckly my late season desnent of the 1190 set a friut in early september which I just picked at about 190 pounds. At least I can say I grew a pumpkin 190 pounds in less than a month. I am seriously considering growing the 691 werking again.
