My plant is about 6 ft. long. I have no pumpkin yet. I have been covering the main vine and those little finger runners that grow out from the vines. Should I be covering those finger runners yet?

Tendrils? I cut those off. Secondary vines should begin to appear at leaf junctions soon. Bury these even if you choose to not bury the main. Secondary rooting is extensive at these points.

OGL,
You can e-mail me for more info about the Ohio Valley Group. Their annual summer patch tour/picnic is coming up on August 1, a good chance to see in person the right way to do it! kilr

I've tried repeatedly to respond to your emails. All attempts have bounced. Some took a couple days to be returned, but all have been so far as I can tell.
The email addy is the same one posted here & the same one you sent from.
