First of all, I pollinated a female blossom on the secound of july and it began to grow. It reached the size of a base ball then stopped. Now it appears almost to be shrinking. Was this improper pollination? I used three males to pollinate. Secoundly when should I pinch back my vines. The plant now is huge and I have plenty of room for it to keep growing. It has been thriving in the rainy hot central minnesota weather and grows about a foot in every directin about every day.

If the fruit turns white and dull then it has aborted and will soften and drop off. You can start pruning vines at any time. I have been pruning right from the start. I am removing every other secondary vine and all tertiary vines. Basically you don't want the plant to run wild with vines criss-crossing all over the place. This would be impossible to spray properly.
