This a Bad thing or not?
Reason I ask is because my 620 Boyton ONLY has flowers at each Node, NO secondarys, the main vine is out to around the 8 ft mark now and still growing like crazy 6 + Inchs per day with NO secondarys..

I have seen similar behavior in some of my plants, 1193 Vader and 1133.4 Demers. They have just stubs for secondaries, maybe 1-2" long, but the main vine is strong and vigorous. Wasn't quite sure why that was, but it sure makes pruning easy.

Yup thats for sure, I guess as long as the main keeps growing well and sets good fruit thats all that matters

Dave, my 620 is doing the same. Very small secondaries. Look at my diary. The main is around 15 ft. My 950.4 Boyton is the opposite very long secondaries. JeffL

Dave I had this problem with one of my plants this year. I figured that it was going to come out anyway so I gave it 5 gallons of water with 3 times the recomended amount of peters 10-10-10 and would you know it that the plant started to grow secondaries just a few days later. I thnk it is too late for that plant , but I would imagine it would work on other plants if caught earily enough. Best of luck John

Could be a defficiency of some kind...
Also I noticed a couple of things in your diary. 1) your growing in a prety shadded area = a shorter photo period & less energy to the plant.
2) possible that you are burying your vine too quickly.

I should have said that I have small secondaries on the 620 not none at all. My side vines are only about 5-6 feet. Your plant still looks small so give it some time.

My 620 really didnt take off before it went south. I had a bundle of males at the end of the main (about 5 ft long) and 1 female that appeared briefly before it dried up and floated away... I don't know what caused it to yellow up? I have one secondary on it still and I cut the main vine down to about 2 ft and buried it thinking the secondary would take off. The secondary is now about 3 ft. long and now all the leafs on it are yellowing as well. My 692 swarts on the other hand is now 20 ft. I planted it on the same day as the 620 Boyton.
I am starting to wonder if this plant is looking for Boily and his "down under" soil. Has the 620 taken off exceptionally well for anyone else? The 620 itself was a nice looking bp, thats why I chose to grow it.

If the leaves are yellowing its probably due to over fertilizing, about 2 weeks ago i noticed the new leaves on my main vine were comeing out with dark yellow spots all over the place some were almost covering the entire leave.
with all the HOT weather we have gotten these past 2 weeks I have been watering heavly every second night and I have cut out ALL fertilizers its been almost 2 weeks now since anything has been applied and no more yellowing of the leafs, I have kept up with foiler applications ( very light) 1/2 mixtures of whats recomeneded and plants are growing well. My 620 BOyton is just over the 8 ft mark now with 2 females and roughly 20 male flowers a new one opening on a daily basis.

It could be a lack of nitrogen or something as well, i know i had those yellow leaves, and all i did was gave it a doze of 15 30 15 and the leaves greened up just like that
