Well it has been a tough year so far. I am beng hit from every angle you can imagine. My latest are birds. They have eaten all my biggest potential fruit on almost all my plants. This has set me back significantly.

Is there a method of covering the little pumpkins. I am currently using smaller clothes baskets. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess the sophomore jinx is on!!!

ray, you might want to try Remay fabric or flaoting row cover as it is known. Agway stores and local co-ops carry it. You can just drape it over entire plants w/o hurting them. I clamp it to stakes couple feet above new growth to prevent sun scald. Good luck!

hey ray, i know that in chat we just gave you the idea of clothes baskets and milk crates, and wire mesh. but now i thought of that stuff that they make for fruit trees. they make special netting to keep the birds from eating the fruit. the clothes basket idea would probably be cheaper though.

chicken wire works th best for me. i just bend into a box shapes and i can still cut out for the vine so it sits flat. but you probably have tried this allready.. good luck

Ray,

Can you pound some posts into the ground & float some bird netting over them?
