As stated in the prior posting, I just returned from my family vacation and had my dad take care of plants. I had all the vines covered as much as possible and had all my Dig Controllers set to irrigate so he only had to pollinate if needed and perform my daily feeding of my plants.

After 4 days I had a boatload of vines to prune, vines to cover, & weeds to pull. I would think that I am in pretty good shape at 39 years old, but while out in my patch on all 4 fours most of the time sweating my gonads off, it hit me that I don't know if I would want to do this if I was a senior citizen. I would assume this would be another challenge that younger folks don't have to overcome. Don't get me wrong, I am fully committed in this quest, but if you are a senior citizen or are close, my hats off to you if you are caring for these AG’s on a daily basis.

Yes it is a chore believe me! I have lost 10lbs since the season started!
I have 5 flower beds, 4 BP plants in a 50 ft X 25, a garden that is 150 ft X 30 ft. I spend my entire weekend just about tilling, weeding fertilizing, improving, draging hoses around, watering, picking & thinning! My husband has no part in it. He better watch it I most likley will beable to bench press him by the end of the season!!!LOL

Us youngins have our own challenges to face, like getting up early to pollinate when we are still feeling the effects of last night's partying! :-)

I know Docgipe has some younger kids that come help him with some of the work; there's pics in his diary from last year I think.

Most of the well seasoned growers are retired and have a good portion of their time to spend in the patch.

With my son, family and everything else that is going on I am mostly in hurry up offence to get everything accomplished.
