John,

I go through this every year, and I have no remedy either, I would love to hear some help. My gourds last year shut off the entrance to some of their spots in the hedge row, and I think they have been pissed since. I actually got straffed today by one, almost put my back out trying to get out of the way of the sucker!~

I put an owl in each patch last week, shut the attacks down for a while, but they seem to have picked up again. I am going to the tin plates and pin wheels next.. Motion usually will keep them down.. it is the lazy hot summer days with no wind that they do the most damage.

John , have you tried tin pie plates hanging by string on a stick or anything that swings around & moves with the slightest amount of a breeze. I put a rock big enough below some of them so it bangs on it (the rock) and some I just let the tin plate swing back & forth. I do it to keep the birds from pulling out my corn that they seem to enjoy pulling out when they are 3 to 6 in tall. Good luck, Al

Hey Rocky , BTW I've got one of your 771.6 's planted. It has about a 4' vine right now so it should set fruit in mid-late July. Just to let you know. Al
