You have a neighbor that happens to be one of the best resources in SVB irradication... Every time the ground shakes, I think of him... (after all, I live in California, where Tremors are common)

My phone business phone numbers are on my emails & you have mail. The cell is the best. If your folks can pick up some stuff at a Garden Center & help you, I'll offer a recommendation for material & advice. If need be, I can also get you the correct material or point you in the right direction if chemical controls are permissible. Check with your folks.

I just checked our website. Our Ledyard store is 8 miles from you & has Talstar-One pints in stock.

Let me know if this link include the Stonington veiwing area. I'm not sure if the zipcode setting stick.

PS The price to CTGPSG is not this high.

You probably already know about this place.

Pequot Plant Farm, 591 Wheeler Rd, Stonington CT 860-535-1785

I'd start by calling them & find out if they sell this:

http://www.spectracide.com/ProductCategories/OutdoorInsecticide/TriazicideBrandLawnGardenRTU/

Home Depot doesn't sell the Triazicide we're after. But Lowes does. Trouble is, I don't think you don't have a Lowes within 30 miles. If you do, or if you just want to see what they charge for it, see:

http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=productList&function=search&categoryId=INSECT_CONTROL_CHEMICALS.CATEGORY&pad=true

Either of the 3 $10 bottles on that page will be fine. Spray only at sundown. Read & follow all label directions carefully. If Mom & Dad are "catching Pumpkin fever", maybe they'll help. Whoever makes the treatment should work alone & wash up thoroughly just as soon as they're finished.

Try to get this done soon. SVB work fast. Look around during the day tomorrow afternoon (before spraying) for small red eggs. If you find any, gently remove & destroy them. I'll send you an email picture of the eggs so you know what you're looking for. The eggs aren't controlled by the Triazicide. That will only work on the egg laying adults. So if any of the eggs escape detection, the emerging larvae will still cause trouble. Thus we want to remove them.

If you have the resource to also include a systemic insect spray for insurance, then also pick up some of this:

http://www.lowes.com/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=163006-000024182-502802A

This will provide a good 90 days of additional protection. But it does take a week or so to start working. So it's very good insurance that won't start working soon enough for our present concern. Though it will cover any "escapes" that occur.

Don't hesitate to ask more questions. Private emails & phone are fine too.

Be safe, have fun, & grow well. I hope you grow a big one!
