I placed a "S" curve in my vine where a pumpkin is about ready to pollinate. It's in a good place BUT.... I need to get the pumpkin itself on a slant on the open side of the curve, but it's pointing up. Is there any way I can fix this, or will it fall over and be ok when it starts to grow?

It should lay down when it starts to grow. Your main focus should be to make sure it grows at a 90 degree angle away from the vine.

The stem will be upright when the plant flowers. It's mother nature's way of displaying the flower and making it noticeable to any bees wandering by. It will slowly lean over in the week or so following pollination.

This is not good and will cause problems later. You need to twist that portion of the vine so the blossom is not on the top then brace it with small sticks. You will probably have to straighten the vine out to do this and then curve it again.

I tried it, but when I bend the vine, it points up again. I can only move the vine so much. I was wanting to keep the pumpkin stem as straight as possible, but if I can't then I'm taking a chance of the pumpkin being too close to the vine with a short stem. I may go with the next pumpkin if I can't get this one fixed. I'll keep trying to work with it. Maybe I can get some more bend in the vine.

Good news!!! I finaly got out of this mess. I moved the vine to the left and the pumpkin is moving to the side where it should be. I have to reshape the vine in a curve again. This is worse then a woman having a baby!!! It's been cold the last few days, and I'm almost afraid to touch the vine.
